MENTAL HEALTH & DISABILTY (MED)

The MED project is dedicated to providing care, medication, and opportunities for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Achieving this requires building our day care center and partnering with local professionals, health students, and service agencies across six pillars:

Awareness

We aim to change social perceptions about children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our intervention programs for schools and parents educate about disabilities and reduce stigma.

Medication and Aids

The Charity Projects partners with companies to supply necessary medications and aids as per each child's care plan.

Diagnosis

Understanding disabilities is crucial for improved care. We work with medical professionals to diagnose and gather information, leading to better treatment and support.

Community Outreach

By partnering with organizations, we ensure children with disabilities access community services and events for free. This support is vital for their development and integration.

Care Plan

Together with health professionals, we create personalized care plans for each child. These plans involve caregivers, parents, and consultants to set achievable goals that match the child’s abilities.

Self-Sustainability

We focus on providing the support needed for children with disabilities to access education and skill acquisition, enabling them to become self-sustainable adults.

FOOD DONATIONS

Millions of people are going hungry in Africa, and The Charity Projects’ food donations provide crucial support amid the escalating Mental Health and Disability crisis. According to World Vision, successive crop failures and poor harvests in Southern Africa have significantly impacted agricultural production, causing food prices to soar. Natural disasters caused widespread destruction, further exacerbating food insecurity. These events have left 41 million people in Southern Africa food insecure, with 9 million requiring immediate food assistance—a number expected to rise to 12 million.

Children living with intellectual and developmental disabilities are especially vulnerable. They often struggle to maintain adequate nutritional balance even when food is available, and many live in poverty with uncertain access to food.

To date, The Charity Projects has provided vital food donations to:

  • Over 600 families in Zimbabwe
  • Over 400 families in South Africa

By donating non-perishable and fresh food, we aim to ensure these children and their families receive the nutrition they need for health and growth. Your support can help us expand our reach and impact, feeding more families and alleviating the food crisis in Southern Africa.

Join us in making a differenceyour contribution can transform lives and bring hope to those in desperate need.

Education

The Charity Projects’ education initiative is dedicated to empowering children, primary caregivers, and the community.

Children

Education is crucial for all children, including those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We strive to ensure that these children have equal access to education, allowing them to learn, develop life skills, seek help, and acquire the tools needed to become resilient adults and active community members.

Primary Care Givers

Educating primary caregivers is vital as they face emotional demands, lack of knowledge, and limited resources to support children with disabilities, putting them at risk for mental health issues. Our project provides information and tools to help caregivers understand and support these children effectively, ensuring their well-being and that of the caregivers themselves.

Community

Raising community awareness about intellectual and developmental disabilities is essential for increasing disability literacy, reducing stigma, and fostering better support. Our education programs aim to inform and engage the community, creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.
